About Marian

Marian is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has her Master of Addictions Counseling license. She graduated from IU Bloomington in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and began her career working with children and adolescents with developmental disorders. In 2008, she returned to IUPUI for her Master's Degree in Social Work to study Mental Health and Addictions.

 

She has over twenty years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults and 15 years in clinical mental health settings. Marian's previous work history includes community mental health and addictions, homelessness prevention/intervention, violence prevention, and school, community, and home-based therapy. She worked for Community Health Network on the Psychiatric Consultation & Liaison team in acute care for 7 years prior to transitioning into private practice, consultation, and training full time. She has been practicing Motivational Interviewing (MI) for nearly as long.

She is a Motivational Interviewing Trainer for the Clinical Institute at Community Health Network, experienced in training mental health clinicians, counselors, health coaches, physicians, nurses, and others in Motivational Interviewing and in substance use, mental health, and trauma. She was also a RISE

(Resilience In Stressful Events) member through Community Health Network, providing peer support after traumatic events.

She is a past Executive Board Member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Indianapolis), a member of the Center for Clinical Excellence, and the National Association of Social Workers. Marian is member of  the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT). She is a member of the Inclusion & Diversity Advisory Committee within MINT.
